Acquired: Signed as a free agent 2004 2011: Dante’s eighth season with the Lions was among his finest as he returned to all-star status with his selection to the West Division team. He ranked third on the Lions with 60 tackles, ninth among all CFL defensive backs and started all 18 regular season games as well as the West Final and Grey Cup games. His four interceptions matched his career-high for the third time and he returned them for 101 yards including a 53-yard pick in the season finale against Montreal with first place on the line. Marsh registered eight tackles on July 16/11 vs Edmonton and had seven games of four or more. He saved his best game for the West Final where he notched two interceptions – his first of the post-season. 2010: One of the Lions more consistent defenders during the 2010 season, Dante played in 17 games with just one game lost to injury. The veteran cornerback recorded 63 defensive tackles to rank third on the team and added four interceptions which was the second leading total behind Ryan Phillips. Marsh also notched a forced fumble and a fumble recovery to go along with four pass knockdowns. In the West Semi-Final he had four defensive tackles. 2009: In his sixth season with the Lions, Dante started all 18 games at cornerback and ultimately had one of his finest years as a pro with a career-high 68 defensive tackles and three more on special teams. One of the club’s most consistent and reliable defenders, Dante ranked second on the team with 71 total stops and added a pair of interceptions. He scored his first touchdown since the 2006 season with an 18-yard return on Oct 18/09 at Winnipeg. 2008: Dante bounced back from an injury-plagued 2007 with his finest season as a BC Lion. His 59 tackles, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries earned the short-side cornerback recognition a West Division and CFL All-Star. He missed just one game (week #9) and recorded a career-high 8 tackles on Oct 25/08 vs Toronto. Dante also had a career-high seven pass knockdowns to go with a total of four takeaways to contribute to the Lions big edge in turnover ratio. He had 8 tackles and his first career sack in the two playoff games. 2007: Played in 58 straight games for the Lions before sitting out Week 5 to Week 13 due to a torn MCL in his right knee. Dante would return to play the final five games of the season to run his total to 27 tackles and one interception for the season. He also added five pass knockdowns and one tackle for loss. 2006: A break-out year for the quiet and edgy defender as he started all 18 regular season games and racked up 52 defensive tackles, three more on special teams to go along with his career-high four interceptions (one for a 63-yard TD), five pass knockdowns and two fumble recoveries. Dante was the Lions leading tackler in the West Championship with five stops and added six more in the Grey Cup win over Montreal. 2005: Started all 18 regular season games and CFL West Championship for the Lions at defensive back recording 47 defensive tackles along with another 7 on special teams. 2004: Recorded 61 tackles to rank second on the team in his rookie CFL season. 2001: Had a brief stint with the Tennessee Titans of the NFL but missed the entire season due to injury. Career Highlights: 2004-2007: Now entering his fifth season in the Lions’ defensive backfield, Dante has 63 CFL games (all starts) under his belt. He reached 200-tackle mark in 2007 after earning his first CFL all-star berth in 2006. Marsh has 11 interceptions playing the short corner as well as 15 pass knockdowns. College: Marsh finished his college career at Fresno State with nine interceptions and three defensive touchdowns. He was sixth on the team in tackles with 58 and tied for the team lead with three interceptions during the 1999 season. Marsh competed in the EA Sports Las Vegas Bowl with 4 tackles and an interception with an 11-yard return. In 1998, he ranked fifth on the team in tackles with 55 and tied for second on the team for interceptions with two. Prior to attending Fresno State, Marsh was highly recruited by Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, and Washington State. Dante spends the off-season in Atlanta with his wife Kimberly who does internet advertising for AT&T and holds a real estate license and their six-year-old son Christopher.
